The primary objective for all authorities in the world today is to contain the spread of the virus. To ensure this, authorities have been taking unprecedented measures to minimize physical contact amongst people

FREMONT, CA: The fight against COVID-19 continues as the world battles through one of the most massive crises faced by humanity. Governments and organizations across the world are adapting to a new work atmosphere that involved minimal physical contact. Without a doubt, the frontline warriors during this war are the healthcare staff, police, and essential services staff, who have put their lives at risk to ensure that people can stay safe within their houses without disruptions to any necessities. In addition, technologies like big data, artificial intelligence, GIS and mapping, and autonomous machines are playing a significant role in this battle against COVID-19. Besides these, drone technology has also been significantly helpful in keeping the virus at bay. Drones have played a significant role in helping authorities carry put various functions. Here are a few ways in which drones have helped fight COVID-19.

Surveillance

The primary objective for all authorities in the world today is to contain the spread of the virus. To ensure this, authorities have been taking unprecedented measures to minimize physical contact amongst people. Most countries are practicing social distancing and have shut down all areas of gatherings like malls, restaurants, and parks. However, not all areas are fully cooperative with these restrictions. In such cases, authorities have resorted to surveillance using drones to monitor places of unrest. This has helped identify regions where gatherings could take place and disperse people before it turns into a hotspot for the virus. Another benefit of using drones for this purpose is that it eliminates the risk of police officers getting infected with the disease and can cover large areas in shorter periods.

Broadcast

Officials have also leveraged drone technology to spread out broadcast messages in various regions. This has been helpful in rural areas where there is no established communication channel. The broadcast message is used to spread information about the disease and tips to stay safe. Drones equipped with loudspeakers can be used to transmit these messages over large areas quickly and efficiently.

Disinfectant Spraying

Health authorities are leveraging agriculture spray drones to spray disinfectant over large areas to avoid further spreading the virus. These spraying drones are filled with disinfectants and can cover much more ground in less time and 50 times faster than traditional methods.
