Unleashing the Potential of Digital

CIO VendorMarcin Pietrzyk, CEO
Finding meaningful work requires a strong sense of purpose for creating something one believes can make a difference. That’s what Dr Marcin Pietrzyk did. Having worked as Head of Big Data and BI for a large telecom operator, he realised that the level of service offered by service providers was unsatisfactory. With a vision to ameliorate this situation, Dr Marcin laid the cornerstone of Unit8. “Traditional industries, be it pharmaceutical, finance, or manufacturing are struggling to unlock the potential of digital. We see a growing gap between the companies, wherein a handful of large enterprises monopolise the digital space. Our mission is to help such industries and lead them into the future. The companies that don't jump on this train to digital will cease to exist,” begins Dr Marcin, Founder and CEO, Unit8.

With a wide spectrum of choices, companies often find themselves in a predicament of what pain points they need to address. What technology shall we adopt? How big is the business-technology gap? What kind of people should we hire? These are the questions that linger in today’s technology-driven world. At the core, Unit8 aims to be the 'go-to company' when it comes to bringing AI and machine learning services to any non-digital native industry. As a horisontal service provider, Unit8 takes a proven approach to identify a case and architecture and develop a solution with the right mix of machine learning and AI, software engineering, data science, DevOps, and Agile methods to solve the problems.

We believe in augmenting humans with technology, giving them superpowers to perform tasks efficiently and effectively

According to Dr Marcin, the first step to go digital is getting the basics right. While the lack of proper data management and integration continue to plague the business efficiency, Unit8 consolidates the necessary data in one place or one platform. In doing so, the company normalises that data to allow clients to connect the dots between different domains of their business and solve the problems at hand.

What makes Unit8 second to none is their rich skill-set and an in-depth and wide-ranging experience of diverse industries. “Many traditional companies need help with the right set of skills and digital mindset. This is where we come in with our digital native crew and skills to team up with the domain experts in a company, and bring the other piece of the puzzle. By forming a joined team, one can solve almost any problem in any industry,” explains Dr Marcin. “We believe in augmenting humans with technology, giving them superpowers to perform tasks efficiently and effectively.”

Unit8 and its skilled team work alongside its clients’ domain experts to identify the impact points and construct a strategic solution according to the architecture and technology available. The company’s fast prototyping capability allows its clients to automate laborious aspects, quickly test out strategies in a virtual environment, and deliver results with minimal investments. “Together with artificial intelligence and machine learning, our technology allows clients to sift through millions of data points with great speed and efficiency,” adds Dr Marcin.

As a true problem solver, Unit8 recently optimised one of the largest factories of a global chemical producer. After understanding the impact points of the production workflow, the company’s dedicated team set out to speed up the production process. By leveraging the blend of software, analytics, artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, and big data, the global chemical producer experienced 15 percent increase in their production efficiency.

Unit8 takes great pride in its pro bono activities and assists non-governmental organisations (NGOs) with specific expertise. Apart from consulting clients on tailoring digital solutions, adoption of technology, and solving the problems, the company also devotes time and energy to publish technological findings for public usage.
