Stalwarts of Continuous Software Testing

CIO VendorWayne Ariola, CMO
The stories of software failure across a myriad of industries continue to make headlines. ‘How to prevent software failures?’ is the question that troubles CIOs. Delivering high-quality software in each release is no easy task in today’s Agile and DevOps environment. The paradigm shift toward Agile has created some significant challenges for software testers who now need to balance speed with quality. Adding to the woes, software testing in the market is dominated by legacy tools and outdated processes, which simply cannot support the pace of software delivery. The need of the hour is a modernized, continuous testing platform that can reduce the time taken for regression testing, maximize reuse and maintainability, give clear insights into risks and deliver sustainable automation. That’s exactly what Tricentis brings to the table.

Tricentis aces the software testing arena, with a groundbreaking continuous testing platform that breaks the barriers experienced with conventional software testing tools. “We provide our customers with the industry’s leading continuous testing platform that provides organizations with fast, actionable feedback at every stage of the software delivery lifecycle,” states Wayne Ariola, CMO of Tricentis.

Tricentis Tosca is an integrated software testing solution that consists of a unique model-based test automation and test case design approach, encompassing risk-based testing, test data management, and provisioning, service virtualization, and more.

Our ultimate aim is to deliver a sustainable, scalable automation that provides organizations with fast, actionable feedback at every stage of the software delivery lifecycle

Tricentis plays a key role in “true” enterprise DevOps, by solving real problems that have existed for too many and for too long. “Our platform provides faster feedback cycles that result in better stakeholder awareness, a reduced number of bugs in production, and the elimination of high support, rework, and remediation costs,” explains Ariola.

Tricentis Tosca was the solution of choice for Dolby Laboratories, an audio pioneer that wanted to enhance the sound and sight experience by raising the level of quality assurance for their business process testing. The business sought a risk-based automated testing solution to reduce or eliminate regression test coverage gaps and lengthy testing integration cycles. The adoption of Tricentis Tosca allowed Dolby’s team to automate regression testing for approximately 40 percent of mission-critical applications and saved roughly 75 percent savings in hours spent on regression testing.

In another instance, Vantiv, a U.S.- based financial services company, was looking forward to their global expansion with Worldpay. To stay ahead of the curve in the fintech industry, Vantiv’s QA organization knew that they would need to transform their approach to attain software quality. With that in mind, Vantiv deployed Tricentis Tosca. Post implementation, Vantiv’s QA team successfully executed and expanded on the provided test portfolio as well as performed test data management seamlessly. Vantiv made huge strides in test automation by rolling out Tricentis Tosca enterprise-wide.

Tricentis has helped over 800 customers to develop high-quality software applications or products. The company’s esteemed clientele includes Allianz, ANZ Bank, Experian, First Data, HSBC, Starbucks, Telstra, Vodafone, and Whole Foods among others.

According to Ariola, Tricentis’ customers knew it was the right time to adopt modern testing technologies as they experienced the growing demand for quality application in shorter release cycles. As analysts from Gartner, Forrester, IDC, and others began to slide the outdated technologies, former “giants” sold off their testing assets giving way for a modernized testing method. Looking at the current business landscape, Ariola remarks, “A modernized testing approach holds the key to DevOps and digital transformation success.”

Tricentis Acquires SeaLights to Revolutionize Industry Approach to Software Quality Engineering

AUSTIN, Texas --Tricentis, a global leader in AI-powered continuous testing and quality engineering, today announced the acquisition of SeaLights, a SaaS-based, software quality intelligence platform. SeaLights further increases Tricentis’ market leadership in quality intelligence by adding expanded capabilities for unparalleled visibility and insights into code and tests throughout the continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipeline.

Founded in 2015, SeaLights provides large enterprises with the metrics, traceability, and insights needed to confidently meet their quality gates and deliver software quickly. Using agents to map code to tests and evaluate code that has changed, SeaLights then uses machine learning (ML) to identify quality risks during software releases. This shift-left capability enables software development teams to focus on the minimum number of functional tests, thereby saving time and speeding up their release delivery.

“In today’s complex, fast-moving IT environments, AI-powered quality intelligence is an absolute game changer,” said Kevin Thompson, Chief Executive Officer, Tricentis. “Tricentis pioneered the quality intelligence category with robust coverage for SAP environments, and the additional capabilities of SeaLights further extends the dominance of our comprehensive quality intelligence solutions to a wide array of applications and environments.”

Tricentis can now provide customers with AI-enabled quality intelligence beyond SAP environments and into both custom and packaged applications, including test impact analysis, quality risk management, root cause analysis, and support across all programming languages. This powerful solution enables software development teams to understand where new code changes can have an impact, assess the risk of new code changes, determine if there are code coverage gaps, and resolve bugs introduced with new code changes all in a continuous automation testing cycle.

Eran Sher, SeaLights CEO and Co-founder, who joins Tricentis as EVP and General Manager, Quality Intelligence said, "We are thrilled to join forces with Tricentis, the leader in continuous testing and quality engineering. This acquisition marks a significant milestone in our journey, enabling us to expand our reach and impact. Together, we will transform the way organizations approach software quality, making it more intelligent, efficient, and reliable. Our combined expertise will drive the next generation of quality intelligence, setting a new standard for the industry.”

This is Tricentis’ second acquisition in the past twelve months, following the purchase of Waldo in July 2023. Founded in 2007, Tricentis now serves more than 3,000 customers in 19 countries, including more than half of the Fortune 500.
