Zenjob, Berlin-based startup on the verge to go International after collecting investments from the latest funding round
Fremont, CA: Zenjob, a Berlin-based recruitment startup that operates a digital platform, which connects students with highly flexible temp jobs in all sectors such as logistics, retail, and hospitality, raises funds to expand its employee-base. Zenjob closed a €27 million ($30M) Series C funding round led by Forestay Capital. Other investors who participated in the funding round are Redalpine, Acton Capital, Axa Venture Partners, and Atlantic Labs. Prior to the latest funding round, Zenjob, the 500 startups growth hacking program alum, secured a funding round of $25M.

The startup that was founded in 2015 says it intends to utilize the money to expand in Germany, where the company currently offers services in 14 different cities further. Zenjob allows employers to book student workers by the hour with less than a 24hr advance notice. Flush with the severe cash input, Zenjob now aims to exist all across the country by the year-end.
The company is also planning to conduct its first international expansion, understanding the opportunity amid the coronavirus outbreak as it suggests requirements of social distancing, generating on-demand for additional services and staff in specific sectors.
“We expect to go international and launch two further countries in the next 12 months. We are looking into expanding into neighboring countries such as France, Scandinavia or the Netherlands,” a spokeswoman for the company stated.
“The coronavirus crisis requires social distancing, which has created an increased demand for staffing in, especially, logistics and retail,” added Fritz Trott, co-founder, and CEO, in a statement. “Our service means that we can assist in the almost effortless digital hiring of hundreds of new students every day to fill these gaps.”
The latest financing will also be used to create more significant efficiency gains in the tech development for users. Zenjob wants to digitize the process and be able to use algorithms to further predict the demands of staff in the future.
It can also predict the ideal jobs allowing the platform to handle billing and cut down the admin requirements for employers wanting temps to plug-in for seasonal or short term vacancies. The app by Zenjob reaches more than 15,000 students daily at this stage.
Forestay Capital’s managing partner, Frederic Wohlwend, said: “We are delighted to have invested in Zenjob and are very much looking forward to working with Fritz and his highly talented team. Zenjob is a company that had deployed disruptive technology to shake-up the temporary employment market and which, before this coronavirus crisis, had already proven itself to have an exciting future. Now, during this pandemic, its flexible digital recruiting service has, in our eyes, further been confirmed as a model for keeping the working world moving.”
