It may be a sensor incorporated into a car, a networked camera, a heart monitor implant, an injectable ID chip for a farm animal, a remote control electrical outlet, or anything else.
IoT refers to any device that can send and receive data via a network. The Internet of Things allows these products to communicate with other computing devices such as cloud servers, PCs, laptops, tablets, and smartphones.

Many industries use IoT technology, including healthcare, energy, transportation, manufacturing, retail, precision agriculture, building management (forming a smart home), and infrastructure management. According to predictions, IoT devices will exceed 24 billion, with businesses and governments being the most aggressive adopters of IoT solutions, as IoT will significantly reduce operating costs and increase productivity.
IoT enables users to remotely turn on and off equipment, regulate temperature gauges and lighting, and monitor and manage a house. Connected devices may now connect and exchange data with each other with little or no human intervention. IoT makes a living more enjoyable, but it also presents a slew of data security and privacy concerns.

Consumers and organizations have traditionally prioritized the protection of sensitive data as connected devices flood data centers with an expanding volume of information. In many circumstances, these devices lack the software and infrastructural security. There is no common standard for device-to-device authentication or how devices can securely connect to cloud services due to the large range of devices and contexts in which they operate. Companies recognize the need to adjust their approach to how sensitive and regulated data is processed and secured in light of this.
Cyber assaults are also a serious concern. IoT devices allow hackers to access linked automobiles, key infrastructure, and even people's homes. Sensors of various types are used in IoT platforms to detect movement, temperature, humidity, and so forth. The data collected by the sensors must be delivered to a cloud database once per specific period, and databases must be fault-tolerant and highly available. Companies should consider the amount of dynamic resources that a security solution will consume when installing security measures.
