Fremont, CA : Prepaid payment instruments (PPIs) make it easier to buy goods and services, along with financial services, remittances, and fund transfers to family and friends, using the money deposited on the instruments. These instruments are usually pre-loaded cards with a pre-defined payment function in some cases. Here are three types of prepaid payment instruments:

Regardless of whether banks or non-bank institutions issue them, these payment instruments do not allow you to withdraw cash. They can usually be used at any retail location that has a contract with the issuer to accept PPIs as payment methods.
Debit and credit cards are the most widely used PPIs. These PPIs can be used to make cash withdrawals. Withdrawing cash from a credit card, on the other hand, should be avoided since you would be paying a high-interest rate from the day of the cash withdrawal.
These PPIs, which are issued by banks and authorized by the central bank, can be used to buy goods and services from any merchant, including financial services, remittance services, and so on. These PPIs allow for cash withdrawals from ATMs, point-of-sale terminals, and business correspondence.
Closed system PPIs
You cannot take cash out of these types of PPIs. These PPIs aid in the purchasing of goods and services from that same entity. Furthermore, these devices cannot be used for third-party service fees or arbitration.
