Mobile payments are safer because it is much more difficult for hackers to gain access to your information in the event of a data breach because your actual financial information isn’t transferred during a transaction.
FREMONT, CA: Smartphones can be used for almost anything these days, including making payments. On your phone, you save all kinds of payment details. To make a mobile payment, place your phone near the POS machine, which will read your payment details. All of this mobile payment technology makes it that much easier for customers and businesses to make payments.
Here are three tips when making mobile payments:

Use safe, trusted payment platform.
Use the software that came with your phone if you decide to input your personal payment details. If you don’t want to use these methods, look for other reliable payment solutions. Your actual credit or debit card information is not stored on these more reliable payment sites.
When using third-party mobile payment apps from the app store or the internet, proceed with caution. If you’re going to download one of these applications, make sure you do your homework on the platform before giving up any personal information.
Use strong password protection.
When you use a password or PIN to protect your phone, be aware of “shoulder-surfing,” which occurs when a thief watches you type your password.
It is critical to protect any payment information on your phone with a passcode. A burglar may quickly and easily access anything on your phone if it has no security. This includes storing all of your personal financial data on your mobile device. When it comes to safety on your phone, don’t overlook other new features and updates. On some modern phones, fingerprints and even facial recognition might make your phone more secure than a passcode.
Don’t send sensitive information through public Wi-Fi.
While public Wi-Fi is fantastic for accessing the web, it may not be ideal for transferring critical information. Any data you share over public Wi-Fi is visible to everyone who has access to that network.
When you use your phone to make a transaction, someone with the right skills can intercept your payment information. It is significantly safer to utilize your home Wi-Fi if you intend to make a transaction or email personal information. When you’re on the go, use your mobile carrier’s network rather than public Wi-Fi.
