FREMONT, CA: Learning is a never-ending process. There is always room for progress. The same is applicable for call centers.
Even though call centers have robust training programs and well-seasoned agents, that does not mean they do not need to improve. There might be some mistakes that are being continuously neglected, which can have a massive impact on the company’s reputation as well as the bottom line.

Let us look at some common mistakes contact center agents make:
Lack of Self-Awareness
One major call center mistake that happens quite often is the assumption that they are above any criticism. No call center is perfect. As said before, there is always room for improvement, and leaders should be open to this idea. Self-awareness is necessary to be able to work on one’s flaws. Hence, in order to improve self-awareness, call centers should consider anonymous feedback for managers as well as for agents. Then, based on the review, they should find out where improvement is needed.
Unaware of Company Goals and KPIs
Management should be aware of the company’s mission and vision. However, if these goals and KPIs are not shared with agents, they are not of any use. The company’s goals and KPIs should be visible to the whole team so that they where they are headed. A secret goal is an unachieved goal.
Insufficient Training
Training is an indispensable step in learning a skill. Call center agents will not know how to make a good customer service call, how to remain compliant with regulations or best practices for live chat unless they are trained. Often, managers assume that their agents know everything that is expected of them and how to perform without proper coaching, training, and opportunities for feedback.
