Exploring HR technology, including Leave Tracking Software, Payroll automation, Employee Self-Service and Project Management tools

FREMONT, CA: Managing HR operations is vital to any company, as people are its most valuable resource. One could achieve this by using technology and HR software to reduce time spent with redundant tasks, bring costs down, and increase transparency. There are four types of software that help human resources departments carry out their operations in the workspace.

1. Leave Tracking Software

A dependable employee leaves tracking software allows employees to reduce the time spent calculating Paid Time Off (PTO), leave approval, and make the entire process more transparent. To communicate their needs for time off to both their superiors and co-workers, employees need to have access to such a system. Additionally, this tool provides managers with accurate reports on days off for each employee, their availability and behavioural patterns.

2. Payroll automation

Payroll decides the amount of compensation each employee receives from the company, based on the hours worked, performance, PTO, and other factors. These criteria influence the finalised payment to the employees and present an extensive task to the people in charge of calculating payroll rates.  The task can be simplified by using automation to track the time worked by each employee and then run all the factors that apply. This minimises the time and effort spent on payroll calculations.

3. Employee Self-Service

Employee self-service aims to provide employees with secure and easy access to their data within the company. This essentially involves available PTO, leave scheduling, salary progression, tax data, and more.

When employees can easily access and download information pertaining to their company activity, the bureaucracy and wait times are reduced, ensuring that the operations remain uninterrupted. This consists of available PTO, leave scheduling, salary and its progression, and tax data, amongst other things.

4. Project Management

An HR manager’s responsibility is to manage interactions and relations between employees and monitor workplace conditions and progress. A project management tool’s features offer the HR department the ability to track their own tasks and monitor progress. The biggest advantage of this tool is that it increases transparency and communication with the higher-ups, as it allows anyone with the proper credentials to check the data.

People are the most crucial resource of any organisation or enterprise’s operations, and taking care of business means taking care of its people. Hence technology relating to the Human Resources department is vital for success.
