Cybersecurity is big business, reflecting that many enterprise organizations today value data security and invest accordingly. The cybersecurity market was worth more than $149 billion in 2019 and is expected to be worth more than $304 billion by 2027, growing at a 9.4 percent CAGR from 2020 to 2027
Fremont, CA: Ransomware is a particularly dangerous threat that can cost victims up to $265 billion by 2031. Over the next decade, the cost is expected to rise by 30% per year. As a result, businesses and government entities alike have been channeling increasing resources into data security, bolstering in-house expertise and infrastructure in this area, sometimes at the expense of other critical areas.

Data backup, like data security, is unquestionably essential in today's businesses and government agencies. According to Reports and Data, the global data backup and recovery market will be worth nearly $20 billion by 2028. The cloud backup market was worth $2.54 billion in 2019 and is expected to be worth more than $14 billion by 2027, growing at a CAGR of around 25% from 2020 to 2027.
The massive size and growth of the backup market can be attributed in part to cybercrime and internal threats, but there are other factors as well. For example, data loss is frequently caused by hard drive failures, human error, and even remote device theft, the latter of which has become an increasingly common occurrence due to the rise in mobile device theft.

Together We Are Stronger.
While current data security and data backup strategies and solutions work in similar tools and services, enterprises should combine these solutions. According to today's most astute IT professionals, data security (traditionally associated with protection and detection) and backup (usually associated with recovery) are two nearly equal and indispensable components of a bulletproof data and operations protection strategy.
Because successful attacks are becoming more common, the ability to recover data has recently taken center stage. However, when it comes to ensuring the puzzle pieces of protection and detection, the right-hand doesn't always know what the left hand is doing.
An All-Inclusive Approach to Data
When you combine data security and backup, you're taking a comprehensive approach to data. This pairing enables you to foster trust and reliable communication between the two teams while also facilitating and ensuring accurate, timely communication between departments.
The key to successfully implementing this dual-pronged strategy is to create repeatable processes centered on electronic and verbal communication. It is also critical to keep and share straightforward task and responsibility descriptions. By outlining and agreeing on roles and expectations for data security and backup, both teams are empowered to do better, more focused work, reducing confusion and redundancies that could lead to dropped balls and unnecessary expense.
