Key Advantages of Using Digital Process Automation Software

CIO Applications Europe| Wednesday, January 12, 2022
Tweet

As businesses of all sizes and industries strive to "digitally transform" their operations, one trend in particular is gaining prominence: digital process automation.

Fremont, CA: Traditional business process management (BPM) initiatives have concentrated on analyzing and optimizing processes that fall within the realm of human capabilities. Digital process automation, on the other hand, flips the script with radical new technology-enabled advances that can improve the accuracy and speed of processes beyond the capability of any human employee.

Recognizing Business Processes

You must first understand a business process in order to optimize and automate it. This is much more complicated than it appears: processes can evolve over time to be very different from what is written down. The process documentation you have on hand may be years old, making it difficult for managers and executives to understand the realities on the ground.

When you use digital process automation to automate your business processes, each step of the process is described and contained within the software. Any changes are automatically recorded, so you always have the most up-to-date picture of what's going on.

Time and Money Savings

Business analysts and other employees can provide valuable strategic insight to your company. However, their job responsibilities also include a significant amount of tedious manual labor. Manual tasks such as reconciling spreadsheets and copying data between locations may consume a quarter or more of their time.

Digital process automation software is less expensive than hiring a full-time employee and allows you to reclaim your analysts' time, giving each employee dozens more hours of productivity each month. This allows them to devote more time to long-term strategic thinking, which is more beneficial to the company as a whole.

Increasing Agility and Flexibility

Digital process automation software boosts efficiency and productivity by allowing you to move more quickly—but the benefits aren't immediate. In a rapidly changing business environment, your company's success will be determined in large part by its ability to adapt to change.

You can become more adaptable and responsive to changes in market conditions and consumer demands by implementing digital process automation. For example, by experimenting with different products and offerings through digital process automation, your organization will be less afraid of failure, more willing to take risks, and more agile.
