According to a recent report, IBM has informed its employees that taking up a second job in any capacity is not in the business's best interest.
FREMONT, CA:IBM (NYSE: IBM) has also sent a letter to its staff on multiple employment after computer titans Infosys and Wipro advised their employees about moonlighting. The company has informed its employees that taking up a second job in any capacity is not in the business's best interest.
A second job could be full-time, part-time, or contractual, but at its core, it's a failure to uphold work duties and a potential conflict with IBM's interests, according to the Livemint.com report by IBM's India and South Asia Head Sandip Patel.

The memo to staff members on moonlighting continues, According to Moneycontrol.com, IBM has long taken the position that every IBMer should give their all to their work. However, if they advance a personal interest at the expense of IBM's interests, whether directly or indirectly, it is regarded as a significant conflict of interest and a breach of trust.
The IBM position on moonlighting comes at a time when the dual employment phenomenon has rocked the IT industry and split opinions into its ethics and morals.
Recently, Wipro (NYSE: WIT) also terminated almost 300 workers for doing other jobs, leading to many questions about how the business discovered it. Although Infosys initially supported the no moonlighting policy, it eventually developed a platform called Accelerate to permit its staff to engage in activities outside of their primary employment.
