Choosing a Data Centre Partner? 3 Things to Look for

CIO Applications Europe| Wednesday, November 20, 2019
Tweet

While looking for data centre facilities, it is wise to run a checklist and consider certain relevant factors.

FREMONT, CA: More and more companies are looking to shift certain operations to data centres. The data centres are particularly advantageous from cost and flexibility perspectives. Besides, infrastructural requirements are taken care of when businesses turn to data centres for storage and computing requirements. In the case of Europe, several data centre facilities are offering services across numerous industry verticals today. However, choosing the right data centre partner involves some close calls and tactical considerations. The following list mentions some factors that should be focused on wData Centerhile finalising data centre partner.

• Low-Risk Locations

One of the most important criteria while choosing data centre facilities is that of security. The physical location of data centre facilities should be in a region which scores well when it comes to being risk-free. Ideally, the region should have no record of law and order situations in recent times. The data centre operators should also be able to guarantee zero external intrusion into the facilities. Besides, an area with a low incidence of natural disasters is preferable. Companies should not European regions prone to earthquakes, hurricanes, or tsunamis.

• Connectivity

Connectivity is one of the first things that companies should consider while looking for data centre partners in Europe. Given the vast expanses in the region, there are chances that certain data centres might be located in regions that do not support high-speed internet connectivity. The last thing a company wants from data centres is latency. Thus, it is a wise decision to cross-check connectivity.

• Regulatory Compliance

Europe is well known for its advanced regulations regarding the use of modern technology. Data protection occupies a position of importance in Europe. Thus, any company looking for data centre facilities in Europe should keep their eyes open for regulatory compliance-related issues. Since the GDPR took effect, European data centres have experienced several changes.

Apart from the factors mentioned above, businesses should also favour centrally located data centres that are in close proximity to their enterprises. European countries like the UK and Germany have been the top preference for businesses seeking data centre partners.
