A new wave of chatbots like ChatGPT uses artificial intelligence that could reinvent or even replace the traditional internet search engine.
FREMONT, CA : A few technologies, including the Netscape web browser, Google's search engine, and Apple's iPhone, have completely transformed the IT sector over the past three decades and made everything that came before them look like lumbering dinosaurs.
An experimental chatbot named ChatGPT presented its case to be the market's next major disruptor three weeks ago. Instead of simply providing a list of links to other websites, it might include content in concise, unambiguous language. It can clarify ideas in ways that are simple for readers to comprehend. Even from scratch, it can come up with ideas for business plans, holiday gift ideas, blog subjects, and travel arrangements.

Even though ChatGPT still needs a lot of work, its launch prompted Google management to issue a code red. This amounted to Google sounding the fire alarm. The company is getting close to an event that the top Silicon Valley companies dread: the coming of a significant technology development that might completely disrupt the industry.
The Google (NASDAQ: GOOGL) search engine has been the main access point to the internet for the world for more than 20 years. But Google could face the first significant threat to its core search business as a new type of chatbot technology is ready to reinvent or possibly replace conventional search engines. The initiatives, according to one Google official, make or break Google's future.
Google is one of the numerous businesses, research facilities, and researchers that contributed to the development of ChatGPT, which was published by an aggressive research lab called OpenAI. However, because of the many ways the technology might affect the internet giant's company, analysts think it may be difficult for it to compete with the younger, smaller firms creating these chatbots.
Like other Big Tech businesses, Google has aggressively explored artificial intelligence technologies for several years while developing chatbots. A chatbot that could challenge ChatGPT has already been created by Google. In actuality, Google researchers were responsible for developing the technology behind OpenAI's chatbot.
Google's chatbot, known as LaMDA, or Language Model for Dialogue Applications, attracted a lot of attention this summer when Google engineer Blake Lemoine asserted that it was sentient. Although this was untrue, the technology demonstrated how much chatbot technology has advanced recently.
However, because this new technology is not well adapted to delivering digital adverts, which made up more than 80 per cent of the company's revenue last year, Google may be reluctant to utilise it as a replacement for an online search.
No corporation is impenetrable; all are vulnerable. It is difficult for organisations to have a second act with something completely different when they have grown enormously successful doing one market-defining item. These new chatbots have a way of fusing fact and fantasy because they develop their skills by studying the vast volumes of data that are posted online. The information they offer may be prejudiced against women and people of colour.
