Although agile is an old concept, the principles it holds are still relevant today. Many companies still use agile to achieve their respective goals more efficiently.
FREMONT, CA: In a world of rapid technological changes, the essentiality of agile is sometimes often questioned. But Agile–although an old idea–is still relevant, with its principles helping many companies achieve modern technological and software development goals. The Agile Manifesto was introduced in 2001 with responsive and flexible-based ideas. It marked a revolution in the software industry by helping numerous companies expand their software development operations. Agile is still relevant and is followed by several companies even today.
Agile principles such as Scrum and Kanban were popular methods used by software developers that helped with technological advancements. But the question arises as to whether agile principles are still relevant in the changing technological era. A lot of companies opined that it is still a useful methodology since flexibility is at the heart of the concept and it will never be obsolete. Let’s look at how agile is pertinent to solving modern problems.

When a company holds values such as passion, challenge, integrity, building relationships, customer-centric, and providing quality, agile principles are quite apt for such environments. Agile principles directly focus on these values and help such companies adhere to such values. Since these values are basic and consistent, agile can be applied to maintain them in the workspace. Software developers can choose different frameworks such as Scrum and Kanban to produce high-quality results.
To achieve quality results, it is also quintessential to ensure that agile principles are implemented properly without hindering the work process. Therefore, the team must set the goals after discussing the ideas with the product owner and stakeholders. This helps the team understand the work requirements and decide the next step be carried out. Quality must be the primary focus, so the team should determine the amount of work to be completed in a given timeframe. They should hold regular review meetings to demonstrate their work to reach the goal. The meetings should include the objectives accomplished in the last frame and ideas for the next frame. The major purpose of the discussions should be to collect feedback and make necessary improvements in the next work.
Emphasising customer needs as a crucial part, agile principles can be used to ensure that the customer and developers’ focus go hand in hand. If the customer desires a change while the sprint is in progress, the agile principle used in the backlog helps to add the desire in the next sprint. This helps in maintaining a balanced work environment that gives greater concentration to the quality of the product by analysing the customers’ changing needs. Consequently, agile enhances the efficiency of the teams by providing ideas for commitments that have to be delivered promptly.
