AI: A Complement to Human Intelligence not a Replacement

AI will affect human lives as every other innovation in the future. Many philosophers thought the motorization and vapour engine would break lives, and it only got the society more productive, some jobs were lost, but more quality jobs were created. Industries from retail to healthcare use AI solutions that make it easier for employees to carry out their jobs. Walmart uses AI to predict shortages in inventories, while pharmaceutical companies enlist IBM’s Watson to identify eligible patients for clinical trials.

Technical skills will undoubtedly remain important in the future of work, but since AI enables people to automate repetitive tasks in many industries, these often lead to soft skills. The most sought-after abilities are communication, emotional intelligence, creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, and cognitive flexibility. In order to prepare for this future, people must stress the development of higher order thinking and emotional abilities.

AI is connected with big data, cloud services, and hyper processing system; it helps institutions make significant firm-related decisions at a quick pace. AI is built with machine learning which analyzes a large amount of data, learns overtime with less probability of mistakes than a human analyst. As the demand for AI increases, its processes are getting more efficient in understanding data patterns; thus, AI has enabled automation of intelligent, analytical, and clear thinking. This helps organizations understand and gain insight into their target audience. Banking industries overcome many traditional banking problems with AI-based solutions. AI-powered BotKeeper is one of the popular bookkeeping and accounting tools. Chatbots also used to make payments. Chatbots are used for making payments as well. PayPal, a website for payment processing, experimented with this concept, which allowed users to pay through chat messages.

In medical research, AI tools are mainly used to analyze and determine the critical hidden patterns in complex datasets, which describe the current state of human being AI is making a direct impact on healthcare field, starting from X-ray image processing to detecting cancer to diagnosing and treating patients. Gartner forecasts that by 2020, AI will create 2.3 million jobs; AI, therefore, functions as a complement to human intelligence and not as a substitute.
