Formula One DDoS Mitigation

Like a phoenix rising from the ashes, DDoS attacks of today are resurfacing while becoming smarter and more intelligent with time. Organizations commencing on the digital path of ten underestimate the impact of DDoS attacks as data breaches and ransom attacks are the ones that grab headlines. In the event of a DDoS attack, the impact itself is so powerful and disruptive that the entire organization can come to a standstill. With more organizations operating hybrid and stand-by models, even if an unsuspecting IT team happens to take a look at the environment, it would take forever until they figure out what’s happening and then obtain internal approvals to redirect IP traffic to mitigate the attack till the services have been restored. This old-fashioned deployment model, based upon humans to respond, detects and mitigates the attacks, is ill-suited for organizations of the digital age where “time is of the essence.”

“It’s like showing up with a Swiss knife to a gunfight,” says Marc Wilczek, COO of Link11. In the wake of the threat landscape changing fundamentally, organizations need to rethink a different approach to DDoS mitigation—that can detect as well as mitigate subsequent waves of more dangerous attacks instantly—to ensure business continuity. Which is why Link11 is reinventing DDoS mitigation with its cloud-based solution that eliminates human error by automating the entire process of detection and mitigation with the help of machine learning, data analytics and automation. The solution detects and mitigates attacks instantly and even in the case of new and unknown attack vector, mitigation happens within less than 10 seconds.

The secret to Link11’s success is their mantra of “a zero-touch approach to ensure zero outage”

The secret to Link11’s success is their mantra of “a zero-touch approach to ensure zero outage,” by which the company boldly stands by with a rock solid service-level agreement where customers can opt for different insurance levels with money back guarantee. “We are introducing a “Formula One” DDoS mitigation to the marketplace where vendors are still introducing and promoting “bicycles”,” quips Wilczek.

What makes Link11 special is that it adopts a holistic 360-degree view on DDoS mitigation as opposed to only looking at layer three and layer four. With more and more organizations moving into the cloud, there is a whole new magnitude of different cloud applications with sensitive APIs. Smart attackers nowadays use complex attack vectors and target all layers, which an average DDoS mitigation solution will fail to recognize. “Wescout all the way up until layer seven throughout the whole IT spectrum to detect any sophisticated attack,” says Wilczek.

As the land of data protection and security, Germany is known for having some of the most restrictive laws in the world. Despite this, Link11 passed all the certifications by the German Federal Office for Information Security (BSI). They interacted thereafter with the BSI to meet their criteria and to be recognized as a qualified DDoS mitigation provider that meets not just the tough German standards but also GDPR regulations across Europe. Furthermore, Link11 is one of the only two security vendors besides Symantec to be part of an initiative called the Cyber Defense Center initiated by the BSI and Federal Criminal Police Office of Germany.

Link11’s DDoS mitigation solution has touched a global network of customers, among which Hermes, one of the leading logistics companies in Europe, utilized Link11’s services to protect their APIs over and beyond regular DDoS mitigation. The preventative action was in fear of attackers nowadays that create big chaos through a single API that connects electronic handhelds used for signing and receiving parcels. If that API is down, parcel delivery will be out of commission throughout numerous countries.

Having already made huge investments towards laying the foundations of its global footprint,Link11’s plans for the future include establishing a physical presence in America’s geography as well as across APAC.
