EveryCloud has been recognized by CIO Applications Europe Magazine as the exclusive recipient of “Top 25 Cyber Security Companies - 2017,” based on our proprietary methodology, reflecting its position in the industry, and is also named among “,” reflecting its broader leadership. This profile has been developed by the CIO Applications Europe research and editorial team based on insights from an interview with Keith Purves, Co-founder.

Be Cloud Confident

Dropbox, Apple iCloud, Salesforce, and Office 365, all have two things in common. Cloud and ‘cloudburst’. The risk of a data leak is expanding daily as the usage of cloud expands and grows. So does that mean we should stop using the cloud? Of course not! However, we should all get wiser about what data we put into which cloud applications. So how do we do that? “Leave that to us,” answers Keith Purves, Co-founder of EveryCloud. “Our Cloud Confidence Index runs a risk assessment on approximately 23,000 applications that allow us to advise businesses on the vulnerability levels of every application being used by people in their environment.”

Many organisations do not even know which applications their employees are using. These ‘Unsanctioned Applications’ house approximately 30 percent of a company’s data, and they pose two significant risks to any company.

Keith Purves, Co-founder

Firstly, the GDPR enforcement that is just around the corner will empower agencies to levy fines of up to four percent of a company’s turnover, or a towering €20 million for failing to comply. And secondly, data leaks through such fragile applications tarnish reputations – and that can be more impactful than any fine.

We help companies to become GDPR compliant and prevent users from uploading data in applications that have high-risk factors. EveryCloud begins its engagement by assessing a company’s entire environment for around two weeks to identify which applications are being used by employees.

Following this process and depending on the results, EveryCloud works with a small number of niche Gartner and Forrester Market Leaders in data security, to tackle cloud and data security needs with software solutions. These solutions identify suspicious behaviour in real time and then act as a policy-based barrier which blocks the uploading of certain types of data to specific applications. The purpose is not to discourage people from using the cloud, but to educate and steer people towards safe use of it.

One common access point for hacking is through compromised passwords. EveryCloud provides a Single Sign-On (SSO) solution that encrypts passwords, making it virtually impossible to crack them. This software also comes armed with User and Entity Behaviour Analytics to assist with the continued understanding of application use. The final part of EveryCloud’s three-pronged approach is robust anti-phishing software which prevents employees from clicking on suspicious sites or links that may expose an organisation to attacks.

With the cloud being the global phenomenon that it is, the scope for leveraging EveryCloud is seemingly endless. It caters to companies ranging from healthcare to sports and everything in between. Keith Purves proudly says that his company has worked with Everton FC and the world’s fifth largest accounting firm, BDO. Given the nature of its operation, it is easy to conclude that BDO sits on a mountain of highly-sensitive data, worth billions. And, if EveryCloud can help secure a cloud environment for them, it is safe to say it has the potential to secure anyone.

The name, ‘EveryCloud’ speaks of its ethos and nods to what it promises to do. Every cloud application can be inspected to make companies cloud confident, by ensuring that every application is safe to use. In the future, our cloud dependence will reach a level that will make it a virtual habitat and, as Gartner points out, “85 percent of companies will utilise services from Cloud Access Securit yBrokers (CASB).” That is where the market expertise of EveryCloud really comes to life. “We can help organisations become GDPR compliant. We can help make them cloud confident.”
