Based in Ingolstadt, Germany, AUDI AG is one of the global leaders in manufacturing luxury cars. Every year, Audi rolls out more than 960,000 cars with its renowned A-series models such as the A4, A6, and A8. However in 2005, while releasing the latest generation of multimedia technology (MMI 3G), the firm needed a development partner that had a deep understanding of automotive user interfaces, could manage a project with a variety of features, display variants, and over 1400 different user dialogues. In a joint venture with Elektrobit (EB), Audi Electronics Venture GmbH (AEV) and developed a modular infotainment system for the Audi A5, A6, and A8, as well as for the Audi Q5. Through associating with EB, Audi implemented a customised system that ensured high reusability using a modular design.

Additionally, EB also managed several other complexities of the project with its integrated human-machine interface (HMI) development tool. However, this is just one of the many of the many success stories of EB. During its journey of over 30 years, the firm has established profound relationships with many carmakers and played a quintessential role in addressing their business challenges.

Today, as a proven leader in the space, EB‘s software finds place in over 1 billion devices in more than 100 million vehicles.

EB offers services that can manage all aspects of product development starting from prototype to the time of production

It offers cutting-edge solutions for developing connected car infrastructure, human-machine interface (HMI) technologies, navigation, driver assistance, engine control units (ECUs), and software engineering services to drive innovation in the automation space. Riding on its two decades of experience in embedded software engineering space, the firm renders independent, unique, and high-quality products and solutions for ADAS and automated driving. Starting from creating driving scenes, replays, and simulation to testing, visualisation, and validation to function development, the firm’s portfolio of products encompasses all the major areas of ADAS and automated driving development. For instance, with EB Assist, the firm helps in accelerating the development of advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), and automated driving functions and systems.

Additionally, EB also provides ECU software products and engineering services to address custom software needs. To this end, the firm deploys emerging and market-proven cutting-edge technologies like AUTOSAR and Functional Safety to meet its clients’ requirements. To meet the specific requirements of its clients, the firm follows a holistic approach towards the products and underpins their projects with support, training, and consulting offerings.

To give end-to-end support during projects, EB offers services that can manage all aspects of product development starting from prototype to the time of production. In this context, the firm has established partnerships with several peers of the industry that aids them in developing solutions for meeting their specific needs. Further, the firm also delivers a Lean Development Model that can meet the automotive software development through consolidating Agile methods with the principles of KISS (keep it simple, stupid) and Clean Code.

Since its inception, the firm has continuously worked to drive the autonomous industry. Apart from incorporating the latest technologies, the firm also keeps an eye on the challenges of the market and works to eradicate them. The firm’s extensive partner ecosystem which includes third-party tool vendors, international standardisation organisations, and microcontroller manufacturers aids enables EB to serve its clients with best-in-class solutions for developing the next generation of cars.
