With the Internet of Things (IoT) gaining momentum across both business and household sectors around the world, the IoT-device manufacturing industry is turning out to be one of the most lucrative areas for investment. According to IHC data, the forecasted number of IoT-connected devices are about to reach 31 billion by 2020. At this point, several companies are coming up with diverse solutions to overhaul the IoT industry altogether. 1oT is one such company that strives toward providing IoT device makers with cellular connectivity. 1oT’s SIM cards enable better performance of the global IoT or machine-to-machine (M2M) service providers by helping them to remain connected via a single SIM card. They curb problems such as handling multiple invoices, high and dynamic roaming charges, and also create a singular connectivity management platform for 2G, 3G, and 4G networks.

Co-founded by Mobi Solutions Group in 2016, 1oT boasts both traditional SIMs and eSIMs in its product range. Unlike the conventional SIM cards, eSIM, also known as eUICC, enables swapping between pre-negotiated carrier services over-the-air without the necessity of physically changing SIM cards. Having the capacity to work across multiple profiles, eSIM is eventually becoming a must-have for the IoT device makers, and 1oT is in the pursuit of catering to this rising demand.
“When we make the devices around us smart, have them communicate with each other and make decisions, we are developing a platform for the creation of unprecedented services and products,” says Märt Kroodo, the co-founder and CEO of 1oT. In fact, 1oT functions as a single platform, which collaborates with the e-SIM manufacturers and the telecom services, bringing the best of both industries together.

Using eSIM technology, 1oT will now open up the global connectivity market for IoT

Manufacturing of eSIM is not in-house at 1oT, and the company also doesn’t build Remote SIM Provisioning (RSP). Thus, it becomes necessary for 1oT to check if SIM cards provided by a manufacturer support the cellular module used by its customer’s IoT devices. 1oT conducts thorough tests on these SIMs prior to deploying them in the market. Currently, 1oT holds the leading position in providing a secure eSIM solution to the IoT and M2M startups.

According to Kroodo, it is mind-blowing that with all the digital revolution initiatives the world has experienced over the last three decades, carriers have always kept the SIM technology unchanged. He adds, “The only thing that has been changed is the size of the SIM, not the content itself. Fortunately, using eSIM technology, 1oT will now open up the global connectivity market for IoT.” As a startup, 1oT is currently working with 12 carrier partners like Vodafone, Telefonica, and Telia, and is catering to a global market of IoT innovations.

1oT also comes with an IoT terminal that enables the M2M customers to manage their mobile data and SMS traffic from a single, self-service based connectivity management platform. The IoT terminal constitutes of various apps, which together provide exceptionally value-added services to its customer. The presence of eSIM Diagnostics enables reporting IMEI, IMSI, location information, and eSIM Doctor helps to monitor the eSIM’s health. The eSIM Crypto and eSIM Lock apps help to add an extra security layer in order to communicate with the device and to create a list of the forbidden devices, respectively. Other than being one of the first few eSIM solution providers, 1oT is a market leader in providing connectivity for an electric scooter sharing industry. In addition to these products and services, the company’s online training sessions and platform-as-a-service (PaaS) enable the company to strengthen and widen its market not only in among the Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) but also among all the other large tech-market players.
