By Rhiannon Dakin, Marketing Manager, Flynet

Flynet has proven itself to be a reliable partner to its customers, driving returns in excess of 10,000% while helping to improve employee job satisfaction, diversity, security and sustainability. Flynet helps organisations harness the stability and efficiency of their existing IT systems, while also enhancing them with modern terminal emulation technologies such as mobile, tablet and desktop connectivity, robotic process automation and web service technologies.

Flynet recognises the value of stable, efficient business systems like mainframe, IBM i and Unix. The scale of alternative hardware required to replace these systems is staggering. It’s simply not a viable alternative, from an environmental, efficiency or a cost standpoint.

  • Driving value for Flynet’s customers has fuelled Flynet’s growth

The world is moving at an incredible pace and technology is vital to support that. COVID-19 has highlighted the importance of fast transaction systems that can cope with load but are also secure and flexible. Mainframe systems are unrivalled in terms of capacity, throughput, environmental efficiency and inherent security. Unfortunately, the end user and application interfaces for this invaluable system are hampering organisational performance, security, dynamism and corporate social responsibility. Flynet bridge the gap to allow organisations to combine the most efficient processing technology with the latest business objectives and obligations.

Flynet’s software toolset is trusted by the world’s largest insurers, government organisations and multi-nationals, including DHL, BMW, HP, Vodafone, and Tesco. Flynet has proven itself immensely capable of driving responsible value creation for all clients. Flynet has been used to empower organisations to complete projects which would be almost impossible before. DAF trucks was previously quoted 300 senior development days by a leading system integrator to modernise their dealer management system. Flynet trained one non-technical application super user to use the Flynet Viewer toolset. The user was then able to complete the project in 70 days, at a fraction of the cost.

“The Flynet solution was a perfect fit, automatically adapting to each different user device for optimum performance and ease of use. This enables staff to use any device (tablet, laptop, desktop or smartphone) to access the systems, all they require is an internet connection. This flexibility will make our team more agile and enable them to provide higher levels of customer service, regardless of location.”- Teun Kremers - Project Manager DAF DMS

Flynet’s software toolset is trusted by the world’s largest insurers, government organisations and multi-nationals, including DHL, BMW, HP, Vodafone, and Tesco

When customers use Flynet technology to harness the value of their legacy business systems and use them to drive value, the return on investment is always positive. This is rarely more apparent than in the case of one of Flynet’s large insurance customers. They had a backlog of claims that they were struggling to resolve in a timely manner. The majority of these claims were small and could be settled with a simple process, but claim agents were constantly dealing with the more complex cases, leaving these customers frustrated and costing the company dearly. Using the Flynet toolset, the company was able to automate 90% of this claim processing within three weeks. Within eight hours of production on day one, the company had saved enough money to cover the entire annual Flynet subscription. Employees were also freed from the monotonous small claims’ administration. Flynet have a 100% project success rate for customers and over 95% of Flynet customers renew their subscriptions each year.

Driving value for Flynet’s customers has fuelled Flynet’s growth. The company is currently growing 15% year on year. This sustainable, organic growth has enabled Flynet to invest in creating a diverse and motivated workforce. Flynet pay all staff far in excess of the living wage and above the industry average for all positions. The company provides unparalleled flexible working opportunities and parental leave policies to ensure our team are able to balance their work lives positively. As such it is unsurprising that the average Flynet employee tenure is over 10 years and staff turnover is below 5%.

We recognise the importance of ensuring IT isn’t a barrier for diversity in the workplace. Oftentimes, established legacy systems have user interfaces that require extensive experience to navigate. This blocks employment access for those that have not had the opportunity to be exposed to these systems, which disproportionally impacting younger employees. These legacy systems often also mandate thick-client access from office-based PCs or terminals. This reduces the opportunity to create flexible, part time or remote employment opportunities which are proven to increase gender diversity. However, with Flynet’s toolset, companies can easily access their applications on any device with a web browser- new or traditional.

Flynet build completely responsive interfaces that can be used by clients to dynamically redesign the look of their legacy systems to appear like any other modern web application. This then allows clear and clean access on mobile devices. Unsurprisingly, Flynet’s clients and projects span across all verticals and platforms, and include diverse operations such as virtualization, mobile, and cloud.

“Flynet Viewer gave us a quick solution to a pressing business productivity need. Flynet supported us with development guidelines and advice, which have helped us to produce a fast, seamless solution at very low cost.”

Andrew Brown, Canada Life

As the global population expands, it is important that all organisations try to do more with less. Flynet creates the real time integrations that empower organisations to make informed decisions in a timely manner that reduces waste and drives value. Flynet’s integrations allowed Tesco to use real time sales and pricing adjustment to dramatically cut their food waste, saving them money and benefitting the environment.

“Flynet's host integration services and Flynet Viewer™ software enabled Tesco to integrate our existing back office systems with new technologies. Flynet's expertise in host system integration gave us a reliable, cost effective solution for getting central pricing information onto Pocket PCs in the stores and from there onto the shelves. We have chosen Flynet as a preferred supplier of host connectivity and integration software and services.”
